The Journal of Vertebrate Biology is pleased to announce an upcoming Special Issue with Guest Editor Prof. Philippe Kok (University of Łódź, Poland and Natural History Museum, London, UK). The Issue will focus on the diversity, taxonomy, phylogeny, evolution and ecology of the Neotropical herpetofauna. Submissions addressing one or more of the following themes are encouraged:
a) distribution and habitat preferences,
b) biodiversity and taxonomic richness,
c) growth, reproduction, population dynamics and conservation,
d) impacts of anthropogenic disturbance and environmental change,
e) reproductive ecology, mating system, mating tactics and reproductive behaviour,
f) species descriptions
Prominent or timely subjects that prospective contributors feel are related to current, and emerging considerations that are not stated in the theme will also be considered. Short notes, reviews and meta-analyses are also welcomed.
The Journal of Vertebrate Biology publishes high-quality original research papers of broad interest. The Journal welcomes papers on the behaviour, ecology, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, taxonomy, and evolution of vertebrates, including research at the interface of these disciplines. The Journal is open access with no publication charges, provides rapid reviewing, and has no formatting requirements for initial submission. Assistance with English correction for non-native speakers is provided for accepted manuscripts.
The Journal is ready to receive submissions for the Special Issue, which will be accepted until 1 July 2023. Before submission of a complete manuscript, a 200-word summary of the proposed paper should be emailed to Philippe (philippe.kok@biol.uni.lodz.pl) and CC’d to the Editor-in-Chief (Prof. Carl Smith; smith@ivb.cz). In addition, please state that the submission is for consideration in the Special Issue “Neotropical Herpetofauna” and briefly describe how the manuscript addresses one or more themes and provides a novel and timely contribution to the field. Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed upon submission, and accepted articles will be included in a virtual Special Issue on the journal website in September 2023.
